Many ships have bars within the buffet where you can order a drink. If not, you are still able to order a drink from the bar by ordering with one of the waiters. A lot of the newer ships have buttons that you press to order a drink.

I was very satisfied with the desserts 95% of the time. I didn’t have much expectations for the donut on the cruise ship but it actually tasted fresh. I also don’t like seafood or mushrooms unfortunately (wish I did) and those are both in the majority of dishes on a cruise so it limits my choices.

There are a number of different pay extra for options on MSC Cruises. On some of the older ships, there may only be one or two speciality restaurants but the newer ships do have more. Where the MSC Seashore main dining room suffered was in a lack of consistency in the food. While we had a decent meal one night, the dinners served on an Elegant Night were an unusual consistency and flavor, with one dish being inedible. Main dining room food is one area where MSC Seashore needs improvement.

I was really excited for a good steak and this dish just did not have any seasoning at all. I ended up not really liking this but it was more personal preference and not the execution of the dish. We spent most of our sea day at the main pool with some friends we had made. I really liked the portion sizes on MSC, it was never too much, leaving room for mulitple options if wanted. For my main dish I ordered the cabernet braised short ribs.
Main Dining Room – Golden Sands – Included
This was the worst day of my selections at the buffet. The pasta salad was pretty good, along with the fries. The brownie offered did not have much flavor and was too cakey. I don’t think it is your traditional rum cake, I had not had one with chocolate on the top like this one but it did make me like it even more. The pizza on MSC I have to say is hands down the BEST pizza at sea. They seemed to do baked goods, pizza and most desserts VERY well.
The price differential reflects the meat and seafood choices -- halibut and chicken; shrimp, salmon and steak or tuna lobster, scallop and wagyu, respectively. It's open all day and serves afternoon snacks and offers late-night dining. There is always a kids' menu available in all restaurants, which will include favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, penne pasta and grilled chicken. MSC Seashore treats dietary restrictions seriously and has separate galleys for vegan and gluten-free travelers.
Travelers with dietary restrictions are asked to mark that when they check in, and it's always a good idea to alert the maitre'd in the main dining room if you have an allergy. A full-service room service menu with sandwiches, cheese plates and salads is available 24 hours a day. Overnight orders come with an additional delivery charge.
MSC are the only cruise line that will match loyalty statuses from other cruise lines. It’s pretty easy to do and it is well worth taking advantage of the freebies. I have diamond loyalty status with MSC which means that I get a free meal in a speciality restaurant.
When the waiters/crew ask you if you’d like to upgrade your drinks package or buy a speciality meal be polite but clear. When you are on your MSC cruise there will be points when staff members will try and sell you speciality dining and drinks packages. Not all of the below restaurants are available on all ships. There are more options available but these are the ones that I personally know about.
This upscale steakhouse is every meat lover’s dream come true, with only the finest cuts of meat gracing its menu. A black loyalty card allows you to have a meal for free in a speciality restaurant. The card entitles you to a meal for two although I believe you can only use it once per cabin.
